Frequently Asked Questions

1How Can I Place and Order?
Once your veterinarian or doctor has placed an order with our pharmacy, you will receive a call from one of our trained technicians.
2What Are Compounded Medications?
When a medication you or your animal needs is not commercially available, we can make it to the specifications you need. This allows us to provide a variety of dosage forms and allergy free medications to our patients.
3Why Do I Need Compounded Medications?
People also use compounded products when:
-> Allergies exist to commercially available ingredients.
-> Specific dosage or dosage form is needed.
-> The medication needed is not available on the market at a normal facility.
4Are Compounded Medications Safe?
Compounded medications can be safe and effective as long as the facility follows all FDA, USP, and state guidelines. Patients, both human and animal, are protected by the state boards of pharmacy which helps to ensure that compounded medications are only available with a legitimate purpose and according to a prescribers instructions. At Dalcoma Specialty Pharmacy we follow all guidelines and all staff receive specialized training to provide you with safe and effective compounded products for your entire family.
5Do You Fill Prescriptions That Are Not Compounds?
Yes! We are happy to provide all basic services that any pharmacy does and MORE! In addition to compounded and retail prescriptions, we also offer many unique services such as immunizations and blister packing. We are local caregivers providing local care. We pride ourselves in offering our patients competitive prices with fast friendly service.
6What Is Your Shipping Policy?
Most compounds for you and your animal are eligible for shipment. Standard shipping usually takes between 3-5 business days in transit and is offered free of charge. Other options are available upon request if a medication is needed sooner. You may choose to upgrade your shipping methods to next day for an additional fee.
7What Is Your Return Policy?
State regulations prohibit us from returning any medication. For this reason, we require that all patients needing a compounded prescription refill speak to a staff member directly and do not use the automatic prescription refill line to request a refill.
8How Can I Obtain A Price Quote?
Just call! The price of your prescription depends on the strength, dosage form and quantity of your specific medication. We are happy to provide you with a quote anytime. If we don't already make it we will do our best to formulate exactly what you or your patient needs!
9How Do I Request Additional Refills?
-> If your prescription has refills, simply call the pharmacy and speak to a staff member to refill your prescription. Extension 3 takes you directly to the veterinary division.
-> Once your prescription has no refills left, you can call your prescriber and have them send a new prescription in or call us and we will contact the office for you and request a refill on your behalf. Once a refill has been sent in to the pharmacy by your doctor or veterinarian, you will receive a call from a trained professional to review the medication.
