Compounded Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)
Our pharmacy specializes in compounding low dose naltrexone (LDN) to meet each patients individual prescription and dosing needs. Commercially available naltrexone is manufactured in much higher strengths. Compounding LDN allows prescribers to prescribe the precise low dose that is appropriate for each patient. This allows for a completely customizable medication regimen.
Low dose naltrexone is most commonly compounded in strengths ranging from 0.5mg to 6mg but can be made into any customized clinically appropriate dose. Healthcare providers may prescribe LDN for a variety of conditions, including: chronic pain condition (such as fibromyalgia), autoimmune disorders (including multiple sclerosis and Hashimoto’s), inflammatory conditions (like Crohn’s disease), chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), complex pain syndrome, and other conditions where modulation of the immune system or chronic pain management is being explored. While research into LDN continues to grow, many of these uses are considered off-label, meaning they have not been approved by the FDA specifically for these conditions. Patients should discuss the potential benefits and risks with their health care provider.
We prepare LDN using high-quality ingredients and follow rigorous compounding standards to help ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality. Each prescription is customized specifically for the individual patient and prepared only with a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. We compound naltrexone into capsules and oral suspension in customizable strengths and flavors. Most people tolerate LDN well. When side effects occur, they are often mild and may improve as the body adjusts. Common side effects include: vivid dreams, difficulty falling asleep, headache, nausea or vomiting, fatigue, and dizziness. Because naltrexone blocks opioid receptors, LDN should generally not be taken with opioid pain medications. This combination could lead to a reduce in the medication’s effectiveness. Always inform your healthcare provider and pharmacist about all the medications you are taking.
Our experience compounding pharmacists and staff are available to answer questions about low dose naltrexone, discuss customized dosage forms, and work closely with your healthcare provider to prepare a formulation tailored to your individual needs.
